Things that made me happy #2
meeting brass sculptor Sandro Castrillo in his own working studio. i was clueless about the guy before that day so i got completely mind-blown by his talent when we met him. he doesn’t polish his work with gold leaves or gold paint, unlike others, which i think makes Sandro a real-ass genuine brass sculptor compared to them. i also met his equally-talented brother (another brass sculptor), whose name i forgot :( we found out during the visit that they’re sons of the renowned Filipino sculptor/comics illustrator and writer/director Amado Castrillo and nephews of Ed Castrillo who will be named National Artist some time this year (or the next).
we will be launching Sandro’s exhibit at Museo Walo in July and i am gastronomically excited to see what he will showcase on that day!! the theme of the pieces he’ll be making for the exhibit is Filipino/makabayan (patriotic).

he makes faces separately before proceeding with the entire sculpture.

previous works of his brother.

the artist himself, Sandro Castrillo!
my pictures don’t do him justice, i only had my phone with me! see more of Sandro’s work here.
some less significant things that still made me happy.

the 1/3-lb bacon & cheese burger i had for lunch sometime last week. the best part was sharing that moment with my beloved bosses.

been longing for Korean food for the longest time!

getting hospitalized for the first time ever and getting out of the ER alive.
